Repairing a broken switch on a Logitech G300s

I've had my Logitech G300s since 2020 and it's been a fantastic mouse. It fits my hand quite well, has macro buttons that can easily be assigned to various keys and supports profiles. Unfortunately after 6 years of heavy use, the left mouse button started having issues. Clicks not registering, randomly letting go if held down, ghost clicks, the usual signs of a switch failing. Fortunately, this mouse is (easily) repairable and so I figured I'd give it a shot.

The Logitech G300s has four Philips screws below the smooth stickers. They weren't too difficult to remove and are sticky enough to put back after replacing the switches.

Finding a replacement switch was simple. Mice (the computer kind, not animal) mostly use the same microswitches and I fortunately had a spare broken mouse that could act as a donor. Desoldering the switches was a bit of a pain (as it always tends to be), but I managed to salvage three switches.

Same applied to the Logitech mouse, desoldering the old switch was a bit of a pain. The new switch fits perfectly and soldering it back on was trivial. The whole process took me about 30 minutes, not too bad!

Hopefully this replacement will last me another 6 years!
